Our favourite wine bars in Amsterdam

Posted on: 22 November 2019

In Amsterdam, the hometown of the Wine Pole, wine flows richly. Wine bars are popping up like vines. We reveal our favourites here.

Wine bar diVino

The Jordaan’s best-kept secret. Although, secret! In summer, the terrace(s) on the corner of Boomstraat quickly fill up. Stools and chairs are pulled out everywhere to give everyone a place in the sun anyway. Because such a good glass of Italian wine tastes best under the sultry summer sun. The price per glass is considerable, but then you have a delicious Italian wine. Boomstraat 41, www.wijnbardivino.nl

Five Brothers Fat

Like stepping into a bar in Barcelona. Here you drink the best Cava until the late hours. The Cava is served in a coupe, as they do in the typical Champagñaria in Barcelona . And the food there is also very good. The menu fits on one A4 sheet, but everything is very tasty and prepared with love. The charcuteria, tapas, croquetas and postres give the cava a soft landing. De Clercqstraat 56 & Hobbemakade 64, www.fivebrothersfat.nl

Alex + Pinard

At Alex + Pinard, they serve more than just wine. For a tasty cider, cocktail or a traditionally brewed beer, the Dapperstraat is the place to be. The wine is carefully selected and comes from small (organic) producers. Something to eat with it is also possible, for example Kaas van Kef or a sharing menu. Everything is affordable and no fuss. Wester Wine Factory

A walhalla for wine lovers. Here you will find a wine bar, wine shop and wine lab. You can hang out with friends or do some ‘serious’ wine tasting and discover your tastes. Of course, small snacks are served with the wine, such as cheese boards, goose rillettes and charcuterie. Everything is artisanal and sourced from small producers in France, Italy and Amsterdam. In summer, you’ll feel like God in France on the beautiful terrace. Takeaway they also have, so you can find your own spot under the sun in Westerpark. Pazzanistraat 10, www.westerwijnfabriek.nl

Café de Klepel

This is one of those places you can only find in Amsterdam. A typical brown café, but without the standard Chardonnay. At De Klepel, they stock around 300 different wines and every night they serve around 30 changing wines by the glass. The best spot is at the bar where the sommelier takes you into his wine world.
